Offered is a professional model S44 Thurman Munson team index bat dating to the outset of his professional career with the New York Yankees organization. Bat features a 1965-68 era center brand stamping with Munson being drafted 4th overall by New York in the June 1968 draft and spending the rest of that summer and most of 1969 in the minor leagues until debuting with the Yankees for a cup of coffee in August before coming up for good in September. Munson is recorded as ordering model S44 bats on August 13 1968 though those records indicate a length of 35" while this bat measures only 33. As such MEARS does not believe this bat was likely issued to or used by Munson, thus the team index designation. Light use shown with scattered marking and an uncracked handle. (97Y0236)
