Blessed with a cheery disposition, even when his team was almost always near the bottom of the National League standings, Ernie Banks continuously belted home run after home run and kept his team respectable at least.
Ernie Banks finished his career with 512 home runs and is the most beloved Chicago Cub of all time. With his passing in 2015, he will truly be missed.
Prime examples of his game used bats sell in the $10,000+ range, and jerseys are now fetching $125,000 - $150,000. His equipment will always be a blue chip investment, and this lot will afford one advanced collector to own a piece once worn by “Mr. Cub”.
Originally sourced from pitcher Dick Radatz. Dick Radataz played with Banks in '67 and secured these for his collection.
The black leather shoes show season-long use. The inner tongue features a Wilson Made in U.S.A. manufacturer's label and "Banks" written in cursive script on the underside of each tongue. We believe these to be size "10 1/2" as there are stampings on the tongue, one which is "10.5." Shoe laces have been replaced. Banks signed the left shoe in silver paint pen.
The black leather remains supple and the metal cleats still cuddle infield direct from Wrigley Field. The finest pair of documented, signed Banks cleats that have entered the hobby.
