The Packers won their first championship under Vince Lombardi in 1961 and offered here is a 6” picture pin that features the team photo. Pinback remains in excellent plus condition and is impressive due to its size and the full team black and white photograph featuring all of the players in uniform, a team that included Forrest Gregg, Max McGee, Bart Starr, Jim Taylor, Willie Wood, Herb Adderley, Ben Davidson, Jim Ringo and Ray Nitschke. They beat the Giants 37-0 for the NFL Championship.
This is the variant version of the pinback, and much rarer. The standard issue, sold at the stadium during the season, was stamped “1961” on the top. After winning the first championship under Lombardi, the button was then issued with “World Champion” factory painted over the 1961 date. Upon inspection, you can still see the original white numerals.
