Offered for this lot is a game worn undersleeve dating to the prime of Sandy Koufax’s career. With game worn shirts routinely selling in the $200,000+ range, this shirt will be an affordable example for the Koufax collector. MEARS has reviewed the shirt, our findings:

Style: 90% wool & nylon (10%) blend, three quarter length button down shirt with blue set in sleeves and rounded tail. The three 4-hole white buttons are original to the shirt. The style of the shirt compares favorably to other Tim McAuliffe examples that have entered the hobby and is supported by period images.

Tim McAuliffe: Supplied by the Tim McAuliffe company, the style of the tag dates to the 1960-1969 circa. This style of tag,

“Tim McAuliffe

INC.

Quality Athletic Equipment

24 Lincoln st. Boston, MASS

90% Wool – 10% NYLON

L (46-48)

Dating (1960-1969 circa): In 1970, McAuliffe changed the tag to now read, “126 Montello Street, Brockton, MASS, 02401”. This helps us date the shirt to pre 1970. Koufax’s last year as a player was 1966, thus the end dating. Shirt may have possibly carried over to late 1960s spring training.

Player ID: On the front of the shirt above the manufacturer label is “KOUFAX” and “S.K.” (red ink) and “32) appear on the reverse collar.

Game Wear: Shirt exhibits heavy game wear with some staining on front and back. Final Grade: Authentic
