This set originated from the long time collection of Wisconsin Sports Collectors Association Vice President Mike Rodell. The WSCA was established in 1975 and is one of the longest running shows in the country. Mike concentrated on Milwaukee Braves and Brewers cards and memorabilia, and this set was one of the jewels of his collection. MEARS president Troy R. Kinunen has been actively buying and selling Milwaukee Braves memorabilia for 30+ years and this is only the second complete set he has handled.

The Sports Collectors Digest Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards describes the 1955 Spic and Span Braves Die Cuts as follows:

“This 18 card, die-cut set is the rarest of all the Spic and Span issues. The stand-ups, which measure approximately 7 ½” x 7”, pictures the players in action poses and were designed to be punched out, allow them to stand up. Most cards are used in this fashion, making better-condition cards very rare today. The front of the card includes a facsimile autograph and the Spic and Span logo. “Printed on the bottom of each card is “The Olsen Pub. Co. (left)” and “1955 Spic & Span Dry Cleaners (right)”. The “Spic and Span Dry Cleaners” logo with the phrase “the Choice of Your Favorite Braves” is also printed on the item.

This rare regional set retains great original gloss and color by the way of registration and contrast, and is stain free, a complete condition break down:
1. Hank Aaron: Would be near mint with the exception of a crease by the wrist of Aaron’s extended hand with glove otherwise unused.
2. Joe Adcock: Near Mint and unused.
3. Billy Bruton: Near Mint and unused.
4. Bob Buhl: Card is near mint with the exception of a rubber band mark (dried residue, no apparent paper loss) on the area under his beltline.
5. Lou Burdette: Excellent condition. Some wear to the right side of the brim of his cap, the cardboard insert is removed from resting slot where the connection tab inserts.
6. Gene Conley: Very Good condition. Crease running through leg and fold on left ankle. Appears to have been put together.
